Jill Chaloner
artist

Welcome
... to my website where I hope you may find pictures that interest, intrigue or inspire you.
I produce art mainly from imagination. It derives from memories and experiences that come
together into an image that I am drawn to paint.

About
I live in East Anglia and paint mainly in oils.
I was born and brought up in the east end of London. Its streets and the lives lived within them strongly influence my work.
Before becoming a painter I had careers in academic literature, in broadcasting, and as
a doctor in the NHS.
After a period of informal training working across a wide variety of media, I did a diploma in oil painting at the Norfolk Painting School and after that painted mainly in oils.
Since then my work has been shortlisted for a national painting competition and has also been chosen for the front cover of a professional journal. My paintings are held in private collections in Europe and the USA.
My painting style is mainly figurative and expressionistic with a narrative component.
But sometimes it is just about trying to capture how a particular kind of light falls on something or is reflected in it or on it.
